I’ve been working on Upwork, formerly Odesk, since 2012. I had several projects and dealt with different clients. I got mostly good rates except for one which came from an employer who hasn’t been fair enough to hear my side of story. But most of my completed projects were done with my employers satisfied.
What I love about Upwork is that you have the assurance to get your payment from the clients. It’s a good thing now that the minimum rate for any hourly tasks is $3/hour but it would actually depend between your agreements with your employer.
Aside from that, Upwork is also helping you to match with employers according to your skills and line of work. It makes finding a job a lot easier and gives you a higher chance of getting hired when you are recommended by Upwork.
So here are some basic tips to be successful in Upwork:
- Make sure you have a pleasant profile with the latest portfolio and work samples
- Take some of tests to boost your profile and ranking
- Make a fair bid, not too low nor too high
- Have patience, not all contractors respond immediately
- Deliver what is expected or beyond what your employer expects
- Be consistent with your work
- Always communicate with your employer
- Be honest
- Be sensitive to time and deadlines.
- Ask for feedbacks regarding your completed tasks. This will help you improve your skills.
These are just few of the tips to be a successful worker in Upwork. But these are basically helpful to have a nice working relationship with your employers.
